“The Shape Left Behind” is an attempt to illustrate the way memory can work. The thing is that memory does not work in a sound way. Our minds are malleable and so are the way we recollect experiences. We remember more of the shape the memory left inside of us than we recall the actual event itself. This song aims to highlight the way we can hold onto the good parts of our past long after the source is gone and no longer providing the warmth we once were given by it. Picture a universe forgetting everything except that it once loved something. I’ve tried to present this observation into the way we work and what we choose to ultimately hold onto and keep in our hearts.
