StillHype is a fan engagement gate platform for independent artists on SoundCloud. You create a gate that requires fans to complete actions — like following your profile, liking a track, or leaving a comment — before they can download your music.

Free: 2 active gates, the full SoundCloud actions bundle (like, repost, comment, follow — one SoundCloud account), an Instagram follow step (one account), MP3 uploads up to 50MB, HypeChart eligible. Pro Artist (everything in Free, plus): unlimited gates, unlimited SoundCloud follow accounts, SoundCloud playlist follows, follow steps for TikTok, X, YouTube, and website visits alongside unlimited Instagram accounts, MP3/WAV/AIFF uploads up to 200MB, fan list CSV export, and your own artist hub page. Indie Label (everything in Pro Artist, plus): credit multiple artists on a single track, label name + compilation support on every gate, and a "Follow artist" step for each credited artist — same price as Pro Artist, no extra cost.

From your dashboard, click "+ New gate". Give your campaign a title, select a genre, upload your cover art and MP3 (or paste an external download URL), then add your gate steps. Hit "Save campaign" and your gate goes live immediately with a shareable link.

Nothing's wrong — your gate saved and is live, it just hasn't shown up in that view of the dashboard yet. To keep navigating around the dashboard feeling instant, your browser briefly caches what "My gates" looked like the last time you viewed it — normally under a minute. If you land back on that page right after creating a gate, you can catch that brief window and not see it yet. A refresh always shows the current list immediately, and the gate's own shareable link works right away regardless.

Email capture, a SoundCloud actions step (like, repost, comment, and follow bundled into one), and an Instagram follow step are available on every plan — Free is capped at one account per follow step. Pro Artist and Indie Label remove that cap (unlimited SoundCloud and Instagram accounts), unlock SoundCloud playlist follows, and add follow steps for TikTok, X, YouTube, and website visits. Steps are optional to include — add only what makes sense for your release — and you can stack multiple steps in any order and reorder them using the arrows.

Yes. Every step has a REQUIRED / OPTIONAL toggle. Required steps must be completed before the download unlocks. Optional steps are shown to fans but can be skipped — useful if you want to offer email capture without making it mandatory.

No — email capture is now a step you add yourself, not a default. If you want to collect fan emails, add the "Email capture" step from the "Add a step" section. If you don't add it, fans go straight to the SoundCloud steps.

Genre tags help categorise your release on StillHype. Select the closest match from the dropdown — if your genre isn't listed, choose "Other" and type it in. This will be used for discovery features coming soon.

From your dashboard, each gate card has an "Unpublish" link. Unpublishing takes it offline immediately — the gate link stops working for fans and it's marked "Draft" — without deleting anything. Hit "Publish" any time to bring it back live with the same link.

Only draft (unpublished) gates can be deleted, to protect any fan data and download activity a live gate has already collected. Unpublish the gate first, then a "Delete" option appears on its dashboard card — click it and confirm. This permanently removes the gate and its uploaded file.

A single gate step that bundles follow, like, repost, and comment together — tick the boxes for whichever actions apply to your release, and fans complete all of them in one connected flow instead of separate steps. On Free, the step can point at one SoundCloud account; Pro Artist and Indie Label let you add more accounts and follow SoundCloud playlists too.

Follow steps for platforms beyond SoundCloud. Free includes an Instagram follow step, capped at one account. Pro Artist and Indie Label unlock TikTok, X, YouTube, and website-visit steps as well, each supporting unlimited accounts.

No. SoundCloud actions are verified against SoundCloud's own API, but Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube don't offer a public way to verify a follow from a third party, so those steps work on the honor system: a fan clicks through to the profile, then confirms they followed. Treat them as a strong nudge backed by the download being locked behind it, not a hard guarantee the same way SoundCloud steps are.

Yes, if your plan allows it — click "+ Add account" under a SoundCloud actions or social follow step to add more. Free plans are capped at one account per step (one SoundCloud account, one Instagram account); Pro Artist and Indie Label remove that cap entirely.

No — set them once under Profile → Social links (Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, website), and new gates pre-fill from there automatically. Updating a link on your profile later also pushes the change onto any existing gate that already has a matching follow step, so you don't have to re-edit published gates by hand.

No — this is entirely optional. Any gate built before this update keeps working exactly as it did, with its original follow/like/repost/comment steps still live for fans. Nothing was changed on your existing gates automatically.

Open the gate's edit page and use "+ Add a step" to add a SoundCloud actions step, then fill in its track URL and tick the actions you want (like, repost, comment, follow). If you'd rather replace your old separate SoundCloud steps entirely, remove them first, then add the bundle in their place and save.

No — a fan who already unlocked and downloaded your file keeps their download; changing your gate's steps afterward doesn't take that away or re-lock anything for them. The new steps only apply to fans who reach the gate after you've updated it.

A one-time heads-up that appears the first time you edit a gate still using the old, separate SoundCloud step types — it just explains what's new. It won't reappear once you've dismissed it, and it doesn't change anything on the gate by itself.

When a fan reaches their first SoundCloud step, they connect their SoundCloud account via OAuth (the official login flow). StillHype performs the action on their behalf — follow, like, repost, or comment — and marks the step complete. If there are more SoundCloud steps after the first, they complete automatically without any extra popups. Fans only need to connect once per gate.

No. Fans connect their SoundCloud account once on the first SoundCloud step. All subsequent SoundCloud steps in the same gate complete automatically in the background — no extra popups or clicks needed.

Go to your SoundCloud profile in a browser. The URL in the address bar is your profile URL — it looks like soundcloud.com/yourname. Paste that into the "Follow on SoundCloud" step when building your gate.

Open the track on SoundCloud and copy the URL from the address bar — it looks like soundcloud.com/yourname/trackname. Use this for like, repost, or comment steps.

Ask them to make sure they're logged into the correct SoundCloud account when they connect. If the action was done before they opened the gate, it may not register — they should try completing the action again with the gate open, then click verify.

In June 2026, SoundCloud paused Hypeddit's API connection, turning their SoundCloud unlock step from mandatory to voluntary. Hypeddit's own public explanation has been vague — founder John Gold described it only as platforms sometimes needing to "navigate pressure from parts of the industry" around third-party integrations, without SoundCloud or Hypeddit specifying an exact cause. We want to be straight with you: no third-party integration with any platform — including ours — is ever fully immune to that platform changing its terms or access. SoundCloud's own API Terms of Use spell out broad grounds for termination, including simply if SoundCloud "decides in its sole discretion that your app does not provide added value to SoundCloud users." On the specific point that matters here — automated engagement actions — SoundCloud's API Terms state: "You must not use the SoundCloud API to... create accounts, play sounds, add followers, like sounds or make comments on behalf of a user, unless those actions are specifically and deliberately initiated by the user via an authenticated use of your app." That's exactly how StillHype works: every SoundCloud action (follow, like, repost, comment) only happens after the individual fan deliberately authorizes their own SoundCloud account via SoundCloud's standard OAuth login, never a shared credential acting without that fan's knowledge. That's the documented, currently-supported basis for the integration — not a guarantee against SoundCloud changing its terms in the future, but it is the actual compliant model their own policy describes. Gates also support non-SoundCloud steps (email capture), so a gate doesn't have to depend entirely on SoundCloud access either way. We'll be transparent here if anything ever changes on our end.

Free: MP3 only, up to 50MB. Pro Artist and Indie Label: MP3, WAV, and AIFF, up to 200MB. If you're on Free and have a WAV or AIFF, you don't need to upgrade to use it — pick "Share a link" instead (Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer) and fans get sent straight to it after completing the gate. The same "Share a link" option also covers FLAC or any other format, or a file larger than your plan's limit, on any tier.

Not yet — embedded artwork (ID3 tags) currently only works for MP3 uploads. WAV and AIFF files download exactly as uploaded, without artwork baked into the file itself. The cover art still shows everywhere on StillHype (the gate page, share previews, HypeChart) — it just won't show up inside the file's own metadata in a media player for those two formats.

If you'd rather not use a direct upload (e.g. the file is larger than your plan's limit), upload it to Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer, grab the share link, then choose "Share a link" when creating your gate and paste it in. Fans get sent directly to your file after completing the gate.

Google Drive: right-click the file → Share → change access to "Anyone with the link" → Copy link. Dropbox: open the file → Share → Copy link. WeTransfer: upload your file at wetransfer.com, add your email, and copy the link it gives you. Paste whichever link into the "Share a link" field in your gate.

Yes — any publicly accessible URL works. If you already have your track hosted somewhere (e.g. your own server, Bandcamp private link, etc.), paste it into the "Share a link" field and fans will be redirected there after completing the gate.

Once all required gate steps are completed, the download starts automatically for direct uploads (MP3, WAV, AIFF), or fans are sent to your external link. A "Download again" button also appears in case they need it.

It's a free toggle on the Pro plan, not a separate price. Artist mode is for releasing your own solo tracks. Label mode adds a few extra fields when building a gate — crediting multiple artists on a single track, a label name, and compilation support — for releases that involve more than one performer. Switch anytime from Profile → Billing & Payments → Account Type; switching never touches your existing gates, fans, or analytics.

Nothing in price or core features — they're the same Pro plan. Pro Artist and Indie Label are just two entry points that set your starting account mode so you land in the right setup from day one instead of switching later. You can change which mode you're in anytime.

Switch to Label mode, then when building or editing a gate you'll see an "Artist name" section — add each performer's name and SoundCloud profile URL, with a "+ Add artist" button for more. A Label name field (prefilled from your profile) and a "Part of a compilation?" toggle also appear.

In Label mode, the regular "Follow on SoundCloud" step becomes "Follow label on SoundCloud" (targeting your label's own profile), and a new "Follow artist on SoundCloud" step becomes available — one per credited artist on that track, each targeting that specific artist's own SoundCloud profile.

No. Existing gates keep working exactly as before; the new fields are only required on gates where you've actually started adding artist credits. Switching account type never edits, deletes, or hides anything you've already built.

It's informational for now — turning on "Part of a compilation?" lets you name it, and that name shows on the gate page under the track title. Useful when a release is part of a various-artists project rather than a standalone single.

From your dashboard, click into any campaign to open its analytics page. You'll see a list of recent fans with their emails and the date they came through the gate. Note: if you didn't add an email capture step to your gate, fans won't have an email recorded.

Yes — on the campaign analytics page, click "Export CSV" to download all fan data for that campaign as a spreadsheet.

Not automatically during beta. Fan email capture is for your own list — you own the data and can use it however you like.

HypeChart is a public Top 10 leaderboard of the most-downloaded gates on StillHype, ranked over a rolling 7-day window. Fans can preview a track right from the chart, then click through to its gate to unlock the full download. It's visible on the homepage and at stillhype.io/hypechart, both logged in and logged out.

Strictly by downloads in the last 7 days — not all-time totals, so the chart reflects what's hot right now rather than being permanently dominated by old releases. The exact download counts aren't shown publicly, only the rank.

Two reasons this can happen: either your gate hasn't had enough downloads in the last 7 days to crack the Top 10, or it isn't chart-eligible. To be eligible, a gate needs something fans can preview — either an uploaded MP3, or a "like / repost / comment" SoundCloud step pointing at a real track. A gate that only links out to an external download (with no SoundCloud step) won't appear, since there's nothing to preview.

It means that track has held the #1 spot for 7 consecutive days straight — a genuine hot streak, not just a one-day spike.

Tap a row to expand it. If your gate has an uploaded MP3, it streams instantly. If it relies on a SoundCloud track instead, you'll see SoundCloud's own play button — tap that to start playback. That extra tap is required by how mobile browsers handle audio in embedded players, not a bug.

HypeList is StillHype's discovery hub at stillhype.io/hypelist — one place to browse New This Week, the HypeChart (plus every past week of it), a page per genre ("Hype In... House," "Hype In... Techno," and so on), and any one-off playlists we curate. Every playlist works the same way as HypeChart: tap a track to preview it, then click through to unlock the free download.

A running list of every eligible gate published on StillHype in the last 7 days, newest first — refreshed automatically every Friday. Unlike the HypeChart or genre pages, it isn't ranked by downloads, so a brand-new release shows up immediately rather than needing traction first. Past weeks are archived too — stillhype.io/hypelist/new-this-week lists every week that's ever run, so you can go back and see what dropped on a given week even after it's no longer "new."

Each genre page ranks the most-downloaded gates tagged with that genre over the last 7 days, refreshed every Friday — the same logic as the main HypeChart, just scoped to one genre. Not every genre in the gate builder has its own HypeList page yet, and a genre with very little upload activity may show fewer than 10 tracks, or none, until more gates are tagged with it.

Yes — stillhype.io/hypelist/hypechart lists every archived week, most recent first, and each week's page has "Older/Newer week" links to step through history. A past week is frozen as it looked at the time (title, art, and ranking as they were that week); if a track's gate has since been unpublished, its entry shows "No longer available" instead of a working link, but the rest of that week's ranking stays intact.

The same requirement as HypeChart applies everywhere on HypeList: a gate needs something to preview (an uploaded MP3, or a "like / repost / comment" SoundCloud step pointing at a real track) and enough downloads in the last 7 days to rank. New This Week is the exception — any eligible gate published that week appears there automatically, regardless of download count.

We don't offer refunds for change of mind, cancelling early, or not using your subscription. When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of your current billing period and you won't be charged again after that — no partial refunds for unused time. This doesn't limit any non-excludable rights you may have under the consumer protection laws of your country or region.

Make sure your campaign is published (shown as "Live" on your dashboard). If it's showing as "Draft", click "Publish" on the campaign card. Also check that you've added at least one gate step and a download URL or file.

Hit the PANIC button in the top nav bar of your dashboard. It instantly logs a report with your current page and browser details so we can investigate. You'll see "✓ REPORTED" when it's been sent.
